As you travel up Highway 29 you must stop at the Oakville Grocery Store and pick up delicious deli and bakery items for a picnic. Oakville was originally known for its dense groves of native oak and was named for these beautiful trees. Located in the heart of the Napa Valley, it boasted the steam train stop in the 1800s. The area is a two mile strip which extends to 600 feet in elevation up the base of the Vaca Mountains to the East and the Mayacamas Mountains to the West. The area offers a unique combination of soil, topography and climate thus creating a viticulture treasure.
