A small village in the Northern Hills, it has one market, one Post Office, one service station, one bookstore, one hardware store, one printing commercial mail room, and one teen center. None of these businesses operate on Saturday and few are open on Sunday. Residents needing services go to St. Helena or Pope Valley. The community is deeply religious. Angwin hosts educational opportunities at Pacific Union College.
The population is generally made up of retirees, students, vineyard operators, second home purchasers and others that commute to nearby St. Helena or other locations in the Napa Valley.
